Writing Inspiration?

I don't know about you but when the weekend comes around I start feeling lazy when it comes to writing. I always want to get some art in, which isn't at all a bad thing. Just this week, I was inspired to create artwork for my novel. Now, this isn't the first time I've made artwork for my novels but it's the first time I had this idea.

My sister is taking an art workshop where mapping the area you live in is one of the little lessons given. I thought the whole idea was awesome so I decided to adopt it for Tanghin as I write it. It will be a map of the city and where all of the bodies are found. I started it all today and just got a huge burst of inspriation. I don't know if it was because of the art or the music but it worked.

I'll try it a few more times and if I find it helpful, I'll definitely add it to my list of writing tools.

Here is the song I was listening to. This has been my favorite song since it came out now it's all over the place. Sorry if you're sick of hearing it.

  1. Music really helps a lot when I'm writing. I'll switch between Pandora stations, or have a "theme song" that I listen to as I write the novel.

I actually haven't heard of Imagine Dragons, or heard that song, so that was new for me!

Now art....I'm not so good at art.

    1. Music is usually my go to for writing inspiration. I normally just use my iPod or iTunes and create a playlist for each novel. How I compile the list is the long process.

Imagine Dragons is slowly becoming one of my top favorite bands. I heard them on Pandora awhile ago and I just fell in love with this song.

I used to be really bad with art until my sister started taking a mixed media class. I caught on to it and realized that my art doesn't have to be perfect. So, since then, I've enjoyed it. I mostly use watercolor but the map I'm making is mixed media...very much mixed media. There are so many random elements thrown in but it's starting to look like a little map.
